St Barthélemy is a small island, just 8 square miles (21 square km), forming part of the Leeward Islands of the northeastern West Indies. Getting to St Barth

The Aéroport de St Jean is the only St Barth airport to serve the island. It’s a small but recently refurbished landing strip operating in the daylight hours only. The diminutive facility is key for both residents and visitors. Local residents and officials alike are trying to stave off development of the island by restricting international flights coming into the St Barth airport. It remains relatively simple, however, to reach the St Barth airport through other Caribbean hubs. Coming from international destinations, most travelers connect via the Juliana International Airport on St Martin/St Maarten.

Several large carriers, including American and Continental Airlines, fly there direct. It takes only ten minutes or so upon taking off from St Martin to land at the St Barth airport, and view of the beaches and hills of St Barth are unparalleled. Service to the St Barth airport along this route is offered by Windward Island Airways, Air Caraibes, and St Barth Commuter. Most destinations on the island are within easy travel of the St Barth airport. It is located near the northern coast, just west of the Baie de St Jean.
